So, robots in Tyro's world are typically built in a factory, before being given sentience & sent out into the world to grow up.
Byte was never finished. He ended up dumped in a landfill before reaching another factory.
A doctor who lived nearby found Byte & did his best to help the unfinished bot out. After a few years, Byte left the doctor's care to go explore the town of Unity & became a vigilante.
